Acne Prone Skin: The Ultimate Guide & Skin Care Routine

What's triggering my breakouts & how to prevent it? - blog | YEARN SKIN

We get regular emails and DM's with customers asking about acne and breakouts. Yearn Skin products deal with fading acne scars, spots and mark's, BUT there's simple ways to prevent breakouts and be proactive before scars, spots and marks appear.

Types of acne/breakouts:

  • Whiteheads (closed plugged pores)
  • Blackheads (open plugged pores)
  • Small red, tender bumps (papules)
  • Pimples (pustules), which are papules with pus at their tips
  • Large, solid, painful lumps under the skin (nodules)
  • Painful, pus-filled lumps under the skin (cystic lesions)

Acne usually appears on the face, forehead, chest, upper back and shoulders.

There are 4 main factors that trigger acne/breakouts:

  • Excess oil (sebum) production
  • Hair follicles clogged by oil and dead skin cells.
  • Bacteria
  • Inflammation

Simple ways to PREVENT acne/breakouts:

  • Always use clean towels/face clothes and wash your hands
  • Never fall asleep with makeup
  • Always ensure your pillow case is clean
  • Wash your makeup brushes
  • Sanitise your phone regularly
